DJXPERIENCE: DJ K-Sprinkles Counting Down to DJX ‘25
As we prepare for the end of the year and gear up for the start of anew, here’s a first-hand account and countdown to DJX ’25 from DJ K-Sprinkles.
As I look out the window driving back home to Dallas from a show in Oklahoma City the night before I realize I have been a busy little bee since coming off Cloud 9 from my DJX experience back in August. I started back up in my second year in college as a full-time student as soon as I returned from Atlantic City and have been hitting the ground running ever since.
I have been traveling for events throughout the entire state of Texas, spinning for music festivals, tons of private parties, last week did a toy drive for two of our Dallas Cowboys, and last night was spinning in OKC as I am the tour DJ for Latin artist, Frankie J and Texas rapper Paul Wall. And let's not forget amongst all my amazing DJ gigs, doing homework...college life! Being a full-time student in college and juggling my demanding DJ career can be very challenging. It is not impossible and can be stressful at times but would not change it for the world...I love being a DJ and to sum it up, it is very rewarding on so many levels.
After the awesome experience I had at DJX 2024 not only showcasing for Mixware and The Scramble, and also getting to work with Coach Hapa in the nXt Camp I knew it was time to kick off Sprinkles Cuts. I was so fortunate to get to participate in one of the classes during the nXt Camp and work with some amazing kid DJs from Kidz DJ Cafe and work with them one on one on their DJ skills. I feel so lucky to be able to give back to our new generation of DJs. I have been planning my youth DJ event "Sprinkles Cuts" for the past 2 years and got the spark I need from the nXt Camp to execute my event this fall. I held my first youth DJ event on November 12, "Sprinkles Cuts" with major sponsorship from Mixware and Jetpack.
My event consisted of a DJ battle between all the DJ schools in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area along with Guest DJ showcases and raffle giveaways. Sprinkles Cuts was a success and the first of many more youth events to come. It is so important to me through my platform that I pay it forward and make an impact on the young DJs trying to find their way through this growing industry.
I am looking forward to next year's DJX ‘25, as we celebrate 35 years! I had a blast this past August and I hope to be even more involved at DJX 2025. As a female DJ I feel it's important that we have a strong presence at events like DJX to show that we make just as much of an impact in the culture as our awesome male DJs. The event is full of great networking opportunities, tons of informative sessions, and of course tons of showcasing events! I have attended the event for 2 years in a row and let me say that each time I have learned so much more about the event and have had more opportunities to be involved this past year that was very instrumental in me executing my Sprinkles Cuts event this past November.
I also want to take the opportunity to shout out Shawn Hazan for his amazing support in getting me involved in a lot of the activities and also let me not forget his awesome team! Putting on an event of this magnitude that focuses 100% on the DJ year after year is so amazing, educational, and beneficial to all DJs regardless of their background. I feel so blessed for the relationships that I have built in this industry that are so valuable to me, and I cannot forget to thank all my supporters that keep me motivated and uplifted on a daily basis. Please follow my journey through my IG @djksprinkles and be on the lookout for Miss K-Sprinkles to be at the next DJX 2025...it will be a celebration for sure!
